Crystal Creek supports Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization
For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages six through eighteen, in communities across the country. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.
Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters (YBBBS) has been a donor and volunteer supported organization since 1971 and is the nation’s leading Big Brothers Big Sisters agency in the number of children matched per capita. Founded in 1971, Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters currently serves over 1,000 youth in one-to-one relationships. Our service area encompasses twenty communities and sixty-five schools throughout Yavapai County and Sedona. Crystal Creek’s own, Scott Nalda, is a proud Big Brother with the YBBBS.
Research shows that, compared to all other children their age, boys and girls matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister perform better in school and avoid violence and illegal activities, and have stronger relationships with their parents and others.
Today there are 181 boys and girls who are waiting for a Big Brother or Big Sister. To them, the only accomplishment that matters – getting matched to their Big – hasn’t happened yet.
