Prescott Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway
Can you believe summer is nearly at an end and kids are heading back to school soon? If you’re going to start stocking up on back-to-school supplies for Prescott students, then you’ll be happy to know that The American Federation for Children (AFC) is giving away 400 backpacks filled with school supplies in Prescott this Saturday, August 1st as part of the 2015 Summer Tour.
The tour stops at Heritage Park Zoo, 1403 Heritage Park Road in Prescott, at 9:00 a.m. The first 400 children accompanied with an adult will receive free backpacks. Best of all children will get into the zoo free from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a paid adult admission. So kids not only get to enjoy free school supplies but the zoo as well.
AFC will also hand out information on the Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) program to parents. ESAs are state-funded K-12 school choice scholarships offered by the Arizona Department of Education. For qualifying students, ESAs can be used to pay for private school tuition, online curriculum, home school expenses, books and educational therapies.
The American Federation for Children and the Alliance for School Choice is a national organization that seeks to improve our nation’s K-12 education by advancing systemic and sustainable public policy that empowers parents, particularly those in low-income families, to choose the education they determine is best for their children.
