Prescott Fire Alert Scheduled This Week

prescott az fire alertIf you see smoke rising through certain areas of Prescott, Arizona this week, don’t be alarmed. Fire managers on the Bradshaw Ranger District are planning to burn brush piles Tuesday, July 7th through Sunday, July 12th permitting there are no weather problems. Specific days to burn will be determined by current and expected weather patterns allowing fire managers to make an effort to minimize smoke impacts to nearby communities.

The burns will be located at:

• Ponderosa Park – Piles are located south of Ponderosa Park

Thumb Butte – Piles are located north of Thumb Butte and border the communities of Kingswood and Forest Trails along the forest boundary.

Prieta Overlook – Piles are located south of Thumb Butte near the Sierra Prieta Overlook.

All prescribed fire activity is dependent on the availability of personnel and equipment, weather, fuels and conditions that minimize smoke impacts as best as possible and have approval from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.
