Prescott Municipal Airport Gets New Airline Carrier
The federal government has approved a recommendation for a new airline carrier at the Prescott Municipal Airport according to the associated press. The Prescott Municipal Airport is eight miles north of Prescott, in Yavapai County, Arizona. Most traffic at PRC is training flights from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University but includes training flights from operations including Guidance Aviation and North-Aire.
The Prescott City Council and an airport advisory committee had recommended a commercial air-carrier proposal from Skywest Airlines, operating as United Express. SkyWest Airlines is a leading regional airline serving millions of North America travelers monthly. See where we fly, how to join our team, our partners & more!
The city recently announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation approved it. The length of the contract is two years.
The airline’s 50-seat jets will make daily round-trip flights between Prescott and Denver. It will fly to and from Los Angeles every day except Saturday.
The new carrier replaces Great Lakes Airlines, which suspended its service in Prescott in March. During its heyday, the airline serviced nearly 100 cities. This number continued to decline and, by 2016, service had dropped to 13 airports in seven states, according to previous reporting.
The new Skywest Airlines flight service starts in late August. For more local Prescott news please contact Crystal Creek Builders.
