Prescott’s Great Outdoors Expo Returns
Fall is here and it’s the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the beautiful Prescott weather. Best of all, Prescott’s Great Outdoors Expo returns to Watson Lake this weekend and is a favorite of locals and visitors alike! If you love to fish, then the Prescott’s Great Outdoors Expo on Saturday and Sunday, October 10th and 11th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm is your go to place.
For the fourth consecutive year, the scenic Prescott lake will be the site of the Great Outdoors Recreation Festival and Expo with its major draw being the fishing cove created for the event located at the north boat ramp. The outdoor festival will feature a netted fishing area stocked with 2,000 trout, totaling about 750 pounds thanks to a donation from the Prescott Kiwanis, assistance by Kiwanis members, as well as volunteers from the Arizona Game and Fish Department, and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Also returning this year will be internationally-known survival-skills expert Cody Lundin, whose wilderness survival workshops were a popular feature of the 2014 expo. Lundin – the star of the Discovery Channel’s “Dual Survival” reality TV show – will offer a free lecture focusing on survival kits for the general public as well as sign books.
A number of other educational presentations and workshops also will take place at the expo – on topics such as birdwatching, bike fundamentals, wilderness survival basics, and basic map reading and GPS use for beginners. Over the course of the two days, the Watson Lake lawn will be the site of six bands and other features at the expo include: live creatures, sporting equipment displays, food vendors, rappelling, kayaking, disc golf, camping, booths and exhibits, archery, boats, a zip-line, climbing wall, RVs, and ATVs.
The Prescott Great Outdoors Recreation Festival and Expo is a family event for fun and education and provides a high-quality destination event in a nice setting as well attracting locals as well as out-of-towners.
