Summer in Prescott

June 18, 2020

Summer in Arizona might conjure images of steam rising from the pavement.
But in Prescott? Not so much. We boast average high temperatures about 10 degrees below the rest of the state.

Prescott enjoys one of the best four-season climates in the U.S. There’s plenty of sun, but we’re a mile above the desert heat of summer. And we enjoy low humidity throughout the year.

Early summer brings warm, dry weather. In July and August, when the dew point rises, Arizona experiences what are called monsoon rains. Quick, intense thunderstorms contribute to the rapid-shift swings in weather in the summertime. But locals will tell you that the monsoon season is one of their favorite times of year because it brings relief to seasonally high temperatures and makes the landscape incredibly verdant and fragrant.

If you’re visiting, be sure to pack plenty of shorts and t-shirts and a light jacket. To limit the spread of the coronavirus, lodging, restaurants, tours and attractions may be closed or open with limitations. So you’ll definitely want hiking boots or sturdy athletic shoes to explore the surrounding forests, parks, lakes and mountains.
